Cherry Creek, Denver

If you're looking for a single adjective that encapsulates Denver's Cherry Creek neighborhood, it's "fashionable" - in every sense of the word. From its impressive selection of luxury residences to its chic boutiques and upscale hotels and restaurants, Cherry Creek offers the best of the best in every category.
Cherry Creek began as a "suburban" community three miles east of Downtown Denver in the late 1870s. Decades of development saw small truck farms, greenhouses and homes rising near Cherry Creek, as well as the construction of a shopping center in the early 1950s by Denver architect Temple Buell. The Cherry Creek Shopping Center, on the south side of First Avenue, was connected with Sears Roebuck on the north side by an underground tunnel in 1955, creating what would become the city's most distinguished shopping district.
Soon, Cherry Creek was one of Denver's most desirable places to live, with many smaller houses and farms giving way to larger luxury homes and condominiums. Today, these high-end residences in a wide variety of architectural styles line streets alongside original Denver Squares, bungalows and duplexes, giving the area some of the city's most varied housing choices. The Cherry Creek Neighborhood Plan, adopted by the Denver City Council in March 1986, remains in place to monitor and review progress and new developments in the area and to maintain the livability of the neighborhood.
Cherry Creek North features an eclectic mix of more than 300 businesses, including art galleries, salons, boutiques, restaurants, nightclubs, hotels and commercial office space, all within walking distance of the many nearby residences. Cherry Creek Shopping Center is a two-level enclosed mall boasting Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's and Nordstroms (opening in fall 2007), as well as many specialty shops, an eight-screen movie theatre and several outstanding restaurants.
While it's less than 10 minutes from the heart of Downtown Denver, Cherry Creek offers everything you need to enjoy "the good life" in a 10-block area, making it a genuine oasis for those lucky enough to live there.
